Manage at homeSome increase in blood pressure is expected and is part of the therapeutic effect in hypovolaemic POTS. Your biio. clinician will monitor this. If you have a home blood pressure monitor, record readings and report any consistently elevated readings (e.g. above 140/90 on multiple occasions).
Usually settles. Ensure adequate fluid and sodium intake. Standard OTC analgesia (paracetamol) is appropriate.
1–2 kg from fluid retention is expected and not concerning. Rapid or continuing weight gain beyond this warrants review.
Expected with sodium and fluid retention. Mild swelling in the first 1–2 weeks is not an emergency. Elevate legs when resting, wear compression stockings, and monitor whether it progresses. If swelling increases beyond the ankles or reaches the knees, contact biio.
